Getting the Right Diagnosis
Do you snore? Do you find yourself feeling tired and irritable during the day? You could be suffering from sleep apnea, a serious medical condition that puts you at risk for strokes, heart disease, and other harmful consequences.
If this sounds like you or someone you care about, Dr. Sage White can help. He’s board-certified by the American Board of Dental Sleep Medicine. Dr. White will create a treatment plan to relieve your sleep apnea symptoms, allowing you to get healthy, restful sleep every night.
If Dr. White has reason to believe you’re suffering from sleep apnea, he’ll arrange for you to take a sleep test to get an accurate medical diagnosis for your condition. A sleep test can be administered at a sleep center, but many of our patients prefer the ease and convenience of a take-home sleep test.
Before recommending a sleep test, Dr. White may also wish to use our CBCT cone beam imaging to get a more detailed picture of your airway. This might involve an additional charge, but it’s frequently covered by your private health insurance.
Easy, Accurate & Affordable
Your road to refreshing sleep begins when you contact the Southern Utah Sleep & TMJ Center for a free evaluation by dialing (435) 267-0486. During your visit, Dr. White will examine your airway for signs of sleep apnea. He’ll also ask you some questions about the type of sleep you’ve been getting. At this point, he may recommend a sleep test.
An overnight sleep test at a sleep center requires you to sleep in an unfamiliar and often uncomfortable environment. But with a take-home test, you can get diagnosed while you sleep comfortably in your own bed.
If you decide to take your sleep test at home, you’ll be provided with a portable testing kit. This easy-to-use device will monitor and track your sleep patterns — it’s the only way to get an accurate diagnosis for sleep apnea.
In addition to being a more comfortable alternative to traditional sleep tests, the take-home version is also more affordable. While staying the night in a medical center can cost hundreds or even thousands of dollars, our take-home test is only $195. This may be covered by your insurance provider.
Treatment Alternatives to CPAP
All you have to do is return your portable testing kit and your results will be reviewed by a physician who’s trained in sleep medicine. Dr. White will receive your results within 24 hours after your sleep test is completed. Then, you’ll be provided with a prescription for sleep apnea care, and Dr. White will help you find the treatment that’s right for you.
A lot of our patients in Cedar City have tried CPAP, but they found it unsatisfactory. They often discover relief using one of our convenient oral appliances — they’re small, quiet, and easy-to-use. For example, OptiSleep has a 90% rate of effectiveness and its sleek design allows for maximum comfort and durability.
